2024 Culinary Creation Goals
As inflation has gripped many households, this year I am focusing my culinary goals on maximizing flavor while keeping costs down. The goals for my 2024 culinary creations are as follows:
Make My Own Condiments
Condiments have become increasingly expensive while also containing hidden sugars and preservatives. So this year, I have decided to start making my own condiments. The condiments most used in my house are mayonnaise, ketchup, bbq sauce, and salad dressing. The one condiment that I will likely not try to make is mustard, either classic or Dijion.
Perfecting Homemade Bread
I have made homemade white bread and pizza dough many times and each of those times it filled the house with an intoxicating aroma while tasting delicious. My one caveat is that homemade bread is so heavy and dense. This year, I will be experimenting with various types of flour and recipes to come up with the perfect homemade bread. In addition, I will likely attempt to incorporate homemade sourdough bread making into the line-up.
Make Homemade Cheese
Lastly, this goal has been something that I have always been interested in but have never been bold enough to attempt. Cheesemaking has always been something that calls to me; however, some cheeses are very complicated in their creation. Therefore, I have decided to start small this year with three different types of cheeses: farmers cheese, mozzarella, and ricotta. I have watched a few videos on making these three cheeses and am excited to start my cheese making journey.
Excited to heat things up for 2024!
